Half-time: Brentford 0 Nottingham Forest 0
Brentford were indebted to goalkeeper David Button for keeping the score blank as the visitors dominated the first half.
Lee Carsley’s side constantly gave the ball away and failed to make an impression against a very well organised Forest side.
That the Bees were not behind at the break was all down to Button.
He saved four times from Nelson Oliveira, the first two relatively comfortable but the third a fine reaction stop to tip the striker’s shot on the turn over the bar.
Button claimed Jamie Ward’s shot from an angle at the second attempt and also blocked again from Oliviera.
Alan Judge had the Bees’ first effort on goal midway through the half with a drive from distance which flew well wide while James Tarkowski headed over from a corner.
Brentford: Button; Yennaris, Dean, Tarkowski, Bidwell; McCormack, Diagouraga; Swift, Woods, Judge; Vibe.
Subs: Bonham, O’Connell, Kerschbaumer, Saunders, Gogia, Canos, Hofmann.
