Groves to fight again next month

George Groves will fight again next month following his second-round hammering of Paul Smith.

Groves, 23, retained his British and Commonwealth super-middleweight titles – and his unbeaten professional record – by brushing aside Smith at Wembley Arena on Saturday night.

Smith, a former British champion, was widely tipped to give the Hammersmith fighter a much tougher test.

But having dealt with him so quickly, Groves remarked that he “hasn’t emptied the tank” and he is now set to return to the ring in December.

Last weekend’s bout was his first since signing up with promoter Frank Warren, who is close to announcing details of Groves’ next fight.
