Green standing by for Crystal Palace move as Fulham eye McCarthy

Rob Green is likely to join Crystal Palace in a pre-deadline move from QPR if the Eagles offload Alex McCarthy to Fulham.

Rangers want to offload the goalkeeper, who recently turned 36, because of a clause in his contract that entitles him to a new deal if he makes five more appearances this season.

Palace subsequently made an enquiry about him but were unable reach an agreement with the R’s, who have since signed keeper Matt Ingram from Wycombe.

With Fulham interested in McCarthy, it has now been agreed in principle that Green will move to Selhurst Park if former QPR keeper McCarthy moves.

McCarthy, 26, left Rangers to join Palace in the summer but has since fallen out of favour.
