Granero says he is happy in London and still believes in QPR ‘project’
Esteban Granero has told QPR’s phone-in show, London Call-In, he is happy in England and still believes the club can achieve its ambitions.
The midfielder moved to Loftus Road from Real Madrid in the summer, when Rangers’ Tony Fernandes-led regime believed they would enjoy a successful season.
Instead the team have struggled and Granero has been linked with a quick exit, with a number of Spanish and Italian clubs reported to be showing an interest in him.
But he said: “I knew I was changing my challenge for another type of challenge. I wanted this responsibility.
“I know we’re going to grow because this club and this team is looking for big things. It’s why I wanted to join QPR.
“We are growing little by little, at a different speed to what we all wanted, but I’m sure we are going to reach our objective.”
And Granero insists he has had no trouble adapting to life in London since leaving Madrid.
He said: “I’m enjoying it. I come from a city that is very nice and I used to like a lot.
“I used to say Madrid is my favourite city but now I’ve come here and London is full of opportunities – it’s impossible to find nothing to do.
“People warned me about the weather but I don’t care about that. It’s a city full of possiblities and I’m enjoying it a lot.”
