Barton denies blaming former boss Redknapp for QPR’s woes

Joey Barton has denied blaming former QPR manager Harry Redknapp for the club’s woes this season.

Rangers are one off the bottom of the table and four points from safety after losing six of their seven matches since Redknapp was replaced by Chris Ramsey.

Barton was quoted as suggesting that Redknapp’s signings had caused the club’s problems.

But the Rangers midfielder later tweeted: “Amazing how certain media outlets ‘adjust’ other people’s words to fit their agenda’s.

“For the record. I am not and have never blamed Harry. If others have an agenda that’s their prerogative.

“Like any team sport, it is ALWAYS a collective effort. Over 38 league games, it is a collective success or failing.

“Yes, culturally it is easier to point the finger at one person and scapegoat them. If it is justified, then fine but this is not.”

Meanwhile, QPR legend Rodney Marsh has insisted that his former club can still avoid relegation back to the Championship.

Marsh tweeted: “Call me stupid, I still believe QPR will stay up!! There are 3 worse teams.”
