Ex-Fulham Star Backs “Outstanding” Marco Silva And Predicts January Spending Spree

Former Fulham midfielder Lee Clark has backed the Cottagers’ manager, Marco Silva, despite speculation about his future.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Bet442, Clark said: “Marco Silva has been an outstanding manager for Fulham, and it’s no surprise he’s been there for a long period.”

Clark, who made 149 appearances for Fulham between 1999 and 2005, doesn’t believe his former club will get relegated this season and even predicts them to splash the cash in the upcoming transfer market.

He said: “I don’t believe Fulham will be relegated”

Adding: “I think they will look to spend in January as they did not do too much business in the summer.”

Silva is the 3rd-longest-serving manager in the Premier League, currently sitting behind Pep Guardiola and Mikel Arteta.

His Fulham side is four points above the drop zone in 15th, having won three of their last six Premier League games. With games against Burnley, Nottingham Forest and West Ham next up, they have an opportunity to pull away from the clubs below them.

Also among this group of fixtures is an away tie in the League Cup Quarter Final against another of Clark’s former clubs, Newcastle United, at St James’ Park.

Clark thinks this will be a difficult game for the away side, predicting Newcastle to progress through to the next round: “It’s a tough one for me personally, but I see Newcastle coming out victorious with their home form being so strong.”

As for the FA Cup, they will play another North East outfit, Middlesbrough, at Craven Cottage in January. They managed to get to the quarter-final stage last season, losing to eventual winners, Crystal Palace, and will be hoping for another good run in the competition this season.
