Di Matteo praises players but is taking nothing for granted

Interim boss Roberto Di Matteo hailed Chelsea’s players after their win in Lisbon but insisted the quarter-final tie is still very much alive.

Salomon Kalou’s goal gave the Blues a 1-0 victory over Benfica and means they are overwhelming favourites to go through.

“Nothing is over – there’s still another 90 minutes to play,” Di Matteo told Sky.

“The players deserve all the credit, because they’ve got a lot of stick. They’ve been fantastic. They’re doing if for themselves, the supporters and the club.

“We went close on a number of occasions and kept a clean sheet. And we looked good defensively, again.”
