Demba Ba’s Newcastle release clause ‘expires on July 31’

A clause in Demba Ba’s contract allowing the striker to leave Newcastle for £7m expires on July 31, the Daily Mirror report.

Chelsea are among the clubs said to be interested in Ba, whose release clause has been well documented.

The Mirror suggest it is less well known that anyone looking to sign the 27-year-old will only have two months to buy him for a knockdown price.

Chelsea also reportedly want to sign Moussa Dembele from Fulham, whose goalkeeper David Stockdale has been linked with West Ham as a replacement for Robert Green.

The Sun claim Chelsea are ready to make a £10m move for Dembele and that Hammers boss Sam Allardyce is keen on Stockdale.

Green’s future at West Ham is in doubt as his contract expires this summer. It is claimed that he wants £50,000 a week and that QPR are interested.

Meanwhile, the Mirror say Chelsea have been told by Porto that a £30m bid tabled for striker Hulk is not enough.

It is suggested that Porto are still ‘cheesed off’ with Chelsea about losing Andre Villas-Boas to them a year ago.

And, following recent reports that Chelsea are set to offer Ryan Bertrand a new deal, the Daily Mail also say the club are planning contract talks with the left-back.

The Mail also report that Chelsea and Manchester City have been advised to cool their spending on wages in light of the introduction of Uefa’s financial fair play rules.

QPR are still keen to pip West Bromwich Albion to the signing of Birmingham City goalkeeper Ben Foster, the Mail say.

Foster, who was on loan at West Brom last season, has been tipped to move this summer and has been linked with a transfer to Loftus Road for some time.

The Mail suggest QPR boss Mark Hughes also wants to sign former Blackburn defender Christopher Samba from Russian outfit Anzhi Makhachkala and is looking to take Fabio on loan from Manchester United.

The Daily Star report an angry reaction on Twitter to comments made by Rangers’ Joey Barton about the royal family.
