Chelsea target ‘could reconsider his future’ after wife is mugged

The Daily Mirror suggest Edinson Cavani’s wife apparently being mugged could help persuade the Napoli striker to move to Chelsea.

It is claimed she has joined him in England – where he is based with the Uruguay squad for the Olympics – after being robbed of a £14,500 watch in Naples. The couple reportedly had their home burgled recently. Following on from an incident like that, it might be better for the couple to try and move on in a different country. Whilst this is good news for football fans, the couple may still be wary of moving to a new place. It’s likely that the couple will have to consider installing some alarm systems in their new home. By burglar proofing a home, homeowners can ensure that they have greater security for their house, keeping themselves and their possessions safe. For Cavani and his wife, a security system will be vital in helping them to relax in their home again.

The player’s agent Claudio Anellucci is quoted as saying: “She has left Naples to join Cavani. It is difficult to get used to the idea that these sort of things can happen to you.

“It is true that incidents of this type can happen to anybody, but the truth is they happen too often.”

Chelsea are believed to be planning to table an improved bid for Wigan’s Victor Moses but are still not meeting the £10m asking price.

The Daily Telegraph suggest Chelsea are prepared to raise their bid of £6m, while the Daily Mail say the club will offer £6.5m for him.

The Sun claim Chelsea and both Manchester clubs have been told they will need to pay Benfica £31m if they are to land midfielder Alex Witsel.

Meanwhile, the Mirror say Fulham have been monitoring Maccabi Tel Aviv’s Senegal striker Moussa Konate, 19, along with West Ham.

And sports psychotherapist Steve Pope has offered to help Joey Barton, the Mirror report.

Pope is employed by Fleetwood Town, where QPR outcast Barton is due to begin training today.

“I deal with addictive personalities whether it’s a young man driven to sleep with 500 different women or those with stress and anger management problems,” Pope is quoted as saying.

“I try and match mental strength with on-the-field skills. Everyday factors can affect a player’s performance. I have had success reducing players’ red cards.

“I do one-to-one sessions and group sessions and whatever Joey needs, or what the manager thinks he needs, I will be there for him.”
