Chelsea ‘set to increase their offer’ for right-back

Chelsea are to increase their bid for Spain right-back Cesar Azpilicueta having had a £5m offer rejected by Marseille, according to The Sun.

The French club apparently want £8m for Azpilicueta, with Blues boss Roberto Di Matteo said to be determined to take him to Stamford Bridge.

Di Matteo is keen to sign a right-back.

Talks between the two clubs have been ongoing for some time, and R’s chairman Tony Fernandes is quoted as saying: “Discussions are continuing with Celtic.”
