Chelsea ‘in talks with Cahill’

Chelsea are discussing personal terms with Gary Cahill after agreeing a £7m fee with Bolton for the England defender, according to the Daily Mirror.

Bolton have apparently allowed Cahill’s agent John Seasman to begin discussions with Chelsea chief executive Ron Gourlay.

Apparently safe. And signing Cahill.

Meanwhile, The Sun report that Andre Villas-Boas’ job as Chelsea manager is safe – regardless of what happpens in the title race this season.

The paper also suggests Chelsea striker Didier Drogba is considering putting in a transfer request amid yet more interest in him from China.

The Mirror and Daily Mail include the story that Blackpool would like to re-sign DJ Campbell on loan.

Campbell has been sidelined by a foot injury since leaving the Tangerines to join QPR, who are said to be keen to take winger Andros Townsend on loan from Tottenham.

Chelsea and Arsenal are monitoring contract developments between Barcelona and striker Isaac Cuenca, the Mail say.

The 20-year-old has yet to agree new terms and will be out of contract in the summer, so is free to speak to other clubs in the new year.

Barca are also said to be considering activating a clause in their deal with Chelsea for Oriol Romeu which enables them to buy the player back for £8m

The Mail also suggests Fulham boss Martin Jol is weighing up a move for Paris St Germain striker Guillaume Hoarau once he sells Andy Johnson.

Striker Johnson has been tipped to join Blackburn from the Whites, who are believed to monitoring Millwall midfielder Liam Trotter and Doncaster striker Billy Sharp, as well as Bristol City’s Nicky Maynard.
