Midfielder Ryan Williams has left Brentford after his contract was terminated by mutual consent.

The 24-year-old arrived at Griffin Park in the summer, having been released by Morecambe.

However, made only one appearance for the first team, in the 4-0 League Cup defeat to Oxford in August, and was an unused substitute in the league only the once.

Boss Dean Smith revealed last week that Williams would be allowed to find a new club this month.

Birkenhead-born Williams came through the youth ranks at Chester City and later played for Colwyn Bay, Llandudno and Welsh Premier League outfit Rhyl.

He joined Morecambe in 2012 and scored six goals in 61 games, his final appearance coming last February.
