Blow for Leeds United boss as Derry gets new deal at QPR
Shaun Derry has been given a new one-year contract at QPR – denting Neil Warnock’s hopes of signing him in the summer.
Former Rangers boss Warnock, who brought Derry to west London having also managed him at Crystal Palace, would like to take him to Leeds United.
But midfielder Derry, whose contract was due to expire at the end of the season, has been given a new deal after making his 12th appearance of the campaign.
He played for Leeds between 2005 and 2008 and looked likely return there before Mark Hughes was sacked as QPR manager.
Derry has since played an important role under Harry Redknapp, whose team are bottom of the Premier League but are unbeaten in 2013.

I like Derry and he was popular at Leeds when he played for us – it’s another example of Dennis Wise’s incompetence to have fallen out with him and caused him to leave – but Warnock is unlikely to be around come summer and many of us are worried that he’s signing too many older players, with whom we’ll be saddled after he leaves. So I don’t think many of us will be shedding tears over this.

Why on earth would we want another carthorse at Leeds? We have plenty of them already. It’s a lucky escape. We will probably sign him in twelve months when he is completely finished in the game.

God give us strength. Is there anyone who Shaun Harvey will be able to sign. Things are still looking very shaky at ER with the gruesome twosome still invoved. Then they wonder why the fans are drifting away! Well, look at the team and the style of play and then you will understand. Where are midfield masters and the top stikers. We need a new start without Bates and his entrourage!!
