Smith expects tough 7s finale

Harlequins wing Sam Smith admits defending champions Saracens will not relinquish their crown without a battle in Friday’s Premiership 7s Series Final.

Quins will kick off an evening of rugby at the Twickenham Stoop at 7pm with a Pool A match against London Wasps, and will later take on Newcastle Falcons.

Saracens are in Pool B along with Bath – who finished second to Quins in the previous round – and Sale. The winners of each group will contest the final.

“We will not be able to write off Bath,” said Smith, who was part of England’s Under-20 Junior World Cup squad in 2010.

He added: “Saracens look very determined. Their players are quick, have dangerous runners and a strong defence. Newcastle and Sale are also looking very sharp.”
