Blow for Quins as duo are forced to retire

Harlequins stars Olly Kohn and Will Skinner have been forced to retire because of injury.

Wales second row Kohn, 32, has been advised to quit after exploratory surgery on his troublesome shoulder injury revealed the problem was more serious than first thought.

Former Quins captain Skinner has not played for the club since sustaining a neck injury in the early part of the 2012-13 season and the 29-year-old flanker has also had to end his career.

Quins director of rugby Conor O’Shea hailed the pair as “true greats” of the club who have “inked their names indelibly into its history”.

Kohn, who has been with Quins since 2006 and made his Wales debut in this year’s Six Nations Championship, played with the shoulder injury last season.

However, after going under the knife, surgeons told him he would need to give up the game to avoid further damage.

Skinner, a former England Saxons forward, also joined in 2006 and captained the club between 2008 and 2010.
