Young winger targets QPR debut

Teenage winger Michael Petrasso has targeted a place in the QPR side after a successful first season as a professional.

The 18-year-old Canadian, who has impressed during loan spells in League One with Oldham and Coventry this term, is still to make a first-team appearance for Rangers.

He is expected to be named in the squad for this weekend’s game against Barnsley and could make his debut at Oakwell.

Otherwise, Petrasso, who recently signed a three-year-deal, is determined to make the breakthrough next season.

“I just want to make my debut now, whether that’s this season or next,” he said.

“Hopefully I can push on now after signing my contract and impress the manager, when I get my chance I have to impress.

“If I get my chance then great but if I don’t I have to be patient. I’ve been on the bench twice this year and it’s great – I loved it.

“But I understand we are in a crucial stage of the season at the minute with the play-offs coming up. They are massive for the club.

“The main aim for this club is to get back in the Premier League, so you have to be realistic with your chances.”
