There will be no reprieve for Lee Cook at QPR despite his impressive performance against Crawley.
Cook, on as a half-time substitute, showed glimpses of his former self, scoring a goal and producing a number of useful crosses in Tuesday‘s pre-season friendly.
But manager Neil Warnock later insisted he still expects the injury-plagued winger to move on before the start of the season.
The same applies to Martin Rowlands, who like Cook was not given a squad number for the new campaign and has known for some time that he is surplus to requirements at Loftus Road.
Warnock said: “I was pleased for Lee that he scored that goal. He had a good game and he’s done ever so well really.
“He needs to play though, and he wants to play. I’m sure he’ll move on and it’s the same with Martin Rowlands. To be honest, I’m surprised somebody hasn’t come in for them before now.”
