Warburton hopeful Mlakar and Smith will be available for cup game

QPR manager Mark Warburton
QPR boss Mark Warburton says he is hopeful Jan Mlakar and Matt Smith will be available for Tuesday’s Carabao Cup game against Bristol City.

Striker Mlakar and midfielder Smith, who are on loan from Brighton and Manchester City respectively, were both absent from the matchday squad for Rangers’ 1-1 draw with Huddersfield.

Smith was ill, while Mlakar has been nursing a groin problem.

They are expected to feature in midweek along with fellow summer signings such as Liam Kelly, Marc Pugh, Dom Ball and Nahki Wells.

Warburton explained: “Matt Smith was sick yesterday. He had vomiting yesterday but he’s better today.

“Jan had a slight tweak in his groin but he trained today so hopefully he’ll be available for selection on Tuesday.”

Grant Hall netted a late equaliser against Huddersfield but Warburton felt it was a case of two points dropped.
