Upbeat Hughes hails QPR’s midfield duo
QPR manager Mark Hughes said the midfield partnership of Esteban Granero and Alejandro Faurlin was a definite positive to emerge from the defeat at Manchester City.
Faurlin made his first Premier League start since suffering cruciate damage in January – a huge boost for Rangers as they look to steady the ship after a difficult start to the season.
The popular Argentine played alongside new signing Granero, who showed plenty of promise following his move from Real Madrid.
“Ale Faurlin had another 70 minutes on the road to his recovery and I thought Granero was excellent all day,” Hughes declared.
“I took him [Granero] off as a precaution. He hasn’t had a great deal of football but showed what a good player he is going to be for us.”
Rangers were outclassed for much of the game but came on strong in the second half and threatened to snatch a point.
“I sensed there was apprehension in the stadium and that was filtering through to City,” said Hughes.
“We fed off that but in the end we were disappointed. In general we can take positives from it.”

we were outclassed for much of the game cos no one closed down the space and gave man city as much room and time on ball as they wanted.anyone looks good if you give them the space and time we did.we got exactly what we deserved, nothing.and we will get nothing until the effort of the players improves.
