Two for Hugill as QPR win at Wednesday

Sheff Wed 1 QPR 2

Jordan Hugill grabbed a brace as QPR came back from a goal down to win at Hillsborough.

Steven Fletcher converted from the penalty spot to send the hosts in front on 22 minutes, his second goal in as many games.

But Hugill equalised on the hour mark, thanks to Nahki Wells’ defence-splitting pass, before Ryan Manning teed him up to complete the turnaround four minutes later.

QPR, who have won back-to-back league games at Hillsborough for the first time since February 1996, were adjudged to have fouled Fernando Forestieri in the box for the penalty.

Grant Hall apparently had enough contact on the midfielder for the referee to point to the spot.

Despite trailing, they responded well, as Yoann Barbet and Ryan Manning went close before Wells forced a save out of Keiren Westwood towards the end of the first half.

Their ability to win fouls increasingly frustrated Wednesday as well as the referee, who brandished five yellow cards in the first half alone.

But QPR’s impressive second-half performance forced them to respond, and they blew a big chance to equalise when Atdhe Nuhiu blazed his shot off target from yards out.
