Taarabt back in training after Redknapp row

Adel Taraabt trained with the rest of the QPR squad on Wednesday as the club attempted to draw a line under the Moroccan’s public fall-out with Harry Redknapp.

Manager Redknapp, who sold him to Rangers while in charge at Tottenham, has repeatedly claimed that the 25-year-old is not fit enough to play because he has not trained properly.

He launched his strongest attack on him yet after Sunday’s home defeat against Liverpool, saying Taarabt was “three stone overweight”.

And after Taarabt hit back by criticising Redknapp in a newspaper interview, the R’s boss publicly slated him again, describing him as “the worst professional I have ever come across” and suggesting Taarabt had lost weight simply because he had had tonsillitis.

Club chairman Tony Fernandes later apologised to QPR fans and said: “We regret these issues being played out in public.

“Both Harry Redknapp and Adel Taarabt have been notified of our disappointment regarding their handling of the situation. I have spoken to them both personally.”
