Washington ‘wasted’ at QPR says Posh chairman
QPR striker Conor Washington is “wasted” being played on the wing, according to the chairman of his former club Peterborough.
Darragh MacAnthony was replying to a tweet from a Rangers supporter asking him why he thought Washington had only scored twice in 30 games since moving to Loftus Road in January.
By contrast, the Northern Ireland international had a one-in-three record at Posh, scoring 33 in 94 appearances, including 11 in 21 under manager Graham Westley last season.
When asked why Washington had been “so average” for QPR and yet “lethal” for Peterborough, MacAnthony pointed out the striker was being played out of position.
He wrote: “Hint is in where you mention Left Wing. He’s off shoulder striker running in behind. Wasted on wing imo.”
