Rangel the unlikely goal hero as QPR earn point

Stoke 2 QPR 2

Angel Rangel scored both QPR’s goals as they secured a deserved point.

The veteran right-back gave Rangers an early lead with his first goal for the club.

And after Stoke hit back to take the lead, Rangel struck again with 11 minutes remaining.

His first was a powerful header from a fabulous cross by Ebere Eze, who also set up the late equaliser.

A mistake by Joel Lynch led to Rangers’ early lead being wiped out.

Tom Ince crossed after intercepting Lynch’s attempted pass to Jake Bidwell, and Saido Berahino was eventually able to bundle the ball in from a couple of yards out.

Rangers almost went behind before the break when Ryan Shawcross’ header hit the post.

The second Stoke goal, scored just after the hour mark, was similar to the first.

Again Ince supplied the cross, and this time James McClean headed the ball back towards Allen to score from close range.

But Rangers hit back when Rangel fired home after being found by Eze’s pass.

Former QPR man Peter Crouch headed in in stoppage time but the goal was disallowed for offside.

It meant the R’s have lost just one of their past eight Championship matches and three of their past 14.
