Stephan rules out move for QPR youngster

QPR have no plans for Esquerdinha to go out on loan, Julien Stephan says.

The Brazilian left-back, 19, has made seven Championship appearances this season but has not featured since the 4-1 defeat at home against Ipswich more than a month ago.

That was his only outing for Stephan’s side since October.

He has been behind Rhys Norrington-Davies in the pecking order, and Sam Field recently played at left-back in place of the on-loan Sheffield United man.

But the head coach does not believe a loan move for Esquerdinha when the transfer window reopens in January is on the cards.

Stephan said: “That’s not the plan. We want to continue the process with him and help him to grow with us. I don’t think it (a loan move) will be the plan for him.”

Another Rangers youngster, Rayan Kolli, has been sidelined again, having picked up a number of injuries in the past year or so.

Kolli is expected to be unavailable until at least the end of the month.

Stephan admitted: “I’d like to use him more but with the injuries it’s difficult.

“I think he has very good potential but, like all young players, he needs to train and needs the consistency.

“Of course it’s very disappointing for players when they are not on the pitch. We have to support him and continue to help him find the solution in order to be able to train normally and to play.”
