Round-up: Brown joins Leeds as QPR edge towards loan deal

Izzy Brown of Chelsea

Izzy Brown has joined Leeds United on a season-long loan.

The Chelsea youngster is looking for more first-team football, having recovered from a long-term knee injury he suffered while on loan at Brighton last season.

Brown, 21, was previously on loan at Huddersfield, who he helped win promotion to the Premier League, Rotherham and Dutch club Vitesse Arnhem.

Meanwhile, young striker Ike Ugbo has joined Scunthorpe on loan from Chelsea until January.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek has been named in the England squad for matches against Spain and Switzerland.

England will play a Nations League game at Wembley against Spain on September 8 and a friendly against the Swiss at Leicester’s King Power Stadium three days later.

Loftus-Cheek, who featured in the World Cup earlier this summer, keeps his place despite playing just 22 minutes for Chelsea so far this season.

Milan boss clarifies Bakayoko comments

AC Milan boss Gennaro Gattuso has sought to clarify apparent criticism of the “defects” of on-loan Chelsea midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko.

Bakayoko made his debut in Milan’s 3-2 loss at Napoli last Saturday and Gattuso appeared to criticise him afterwards.

“Some people misunderstood what I said about Bakayoko,” Gattuso told a media conference.

“I noticed he was upset when I saw him in training after the last match.

“I didn’t blame him. I never point at my players. I meant that it’s not easy to play in a new league and get used to new working methods.

“He needs time, that’s all. Bakayoko and this team have already improved a lot and I’m happy.”

Cairney injury blow

Fulham expect captain Tom Cairney to be out for several weeks.

The midfielder, who has pulled out of international duty with Scotland, picked up a foot injury in last week’s Premier League win against Burnley.

Boss Slavisa Jokanovic said: “Tom Cairney is going to be unavailable for the Brighton game.

“He has a foot injury and we still need to assess him but it is our expectation that he will be unavailable for a few weeks.”

Neeskens Kebano, meanwhile, injured his ankle in Tuesday’s Carabao Cup win over Exeter and is likely to be sidelined for at least a month.

“Kebano has an ankle problem and he is probably going to be out for four weeks,” Jokanovic added.

“I am not a doctor, but it has a similarity to Cairney but it is not the same thing.”

Cup draw

Chelsea have been drawn away to Liverpool and Brentford away to Arsenal in the third round of the Carabao Cup.

Fulham and QPR have also been drawn away, against Millwall and Blackpool respectively. The ties will take place in the week commencing 24 September.

Bees back in for Kaikai

Brentford: Griffin Park

Brentford have made another approach to Crystal Palace for winger Sullay Kaikai.

The 23-year-old impressed on loan with the Bees the season before last, scoring three goals in 18 appearances.

He was recalled by the Eagles after Sam Allardyce took over as manager at Selhurst Park.

Brentford have kept tabs on him since and tried to sign him on a permanent deal last January.

And Kaikai is among a number of possible options Brentford are pursuing ahead of the loan window closing on Friday.

Clarke could go on loan

Brentford are prepared to let Josh Clarke leave on loan before Friday’s deadline.

The Bees are currently looking for a club for the 23–year-old, who can play at right-back or further forward.

QPR latest

QPR: Loftus Road

QPR now appear to be close to a deal to sign Geoff Cameron on loan from Stoke.

Rangers have been linked with several other players ahead of the deadline but West London Sport revealed their target is Cameron, having previously also first revealed their moves for Nahki Wells, Tomer Hemed and Angel Rangel.

Meanwhile, defender Charlie Fox, 19, has joined Wycombe on loan from QPR
