Star claim QPR plan Onuoha contract talks

QPR plan to open contract talks with Nedum Onuoha in January, the Daily Star claim.

It comes after Onuoha, whose current deal expires in the summer, told West London Sport he had not yet discussed a new contract.

“It depends what the club want to do, to be honest,” Onuoha said.

“They’ve not spoken to me yet, but seven or eight months in football can be a very long time.

“So hopefully I can get back into the side when I’m fit, play well and maybe then we’ll have that conversation.

“It’d be nice to have some sort of continuity, but this is football – every year you have to poise yourself for potentially being somewhere else.”

Skipper Onuoha, who was signed from Manchester City in January 2012, is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury.

QPR are looking to cut their wage bill.

But the Star claim the club are keen for Onuoha to sign a new contract rather than potentially leave on a Bosman free transfer at the end of the season.
