Redknapp: I wanted Taarabt back at QPR

QPR manager Harry Redknapp says he wanted to bring Adel Taarabt back into the fold before the Moroccan signed for AC Milan.

Taarabt, 24, completed a move to the San Siro last month on a loan deal which could be made permanent at the end of the season.

He spent the first part of the campaign at Fulham, who wanted to end his season-long loan but could not do so without Rangers’ consent under the terms of the deal agreed between the two clubs last summer.

Redknapp indicated that he did not want Taarabt back – but now says he would have agreed to his return had the player not been given the chance to join Milan.

“I would have had Adel back, no doubt. I admit I looked at doing it, but then Milan came in and then it becomes difficult,” said Redknapp.

“Speak to anyone here when they went up under Neil Warnock and they will tell you Taarabt was massive in that.

“I would have brought him back for these last few games, definitely. I would have done it. But it got difficult when Milan came in for him.”
