No deal for Maiga was discussed – Redknapp

Harry Redknapp says QPR never sought a deal for Modibo Maiga or were rejected by the West Ham striker.

Maiga has failed to make an impact at Upton Park since his arrival in 2012 and Hammers boss Sam Allardyce is keen to offload him.

Redknapp was offered the chance to sign the 26-year-old and agreed for him to train with Rangers, but has other transfer targets in mind.

There have subsequently been reports that Maiga turned down a move to Loftus Road.

Rangers manager Redknapp said: “Nothing happened really. We’ve not asked to take him on loan and the lad certainly hasn’t refused to come on loan.

“It was in the papers that we didn’t want him, but that wasn’t true either. He’s a good player and looks a good lad but I’ve had no discussions about him with Sam.”
