QPR are hopeful their appointment of Harry Redknapp as manager will help the club land Tottenham defender Michael Dawson in January.
Rangers had an offer for Dawson accepted in the summer but were unable to persuade him to make the move.
They have been planning another attempt to sign the England international and the Loftus Road hierarchy believe the arrival of Redknapp, who managed him at Spurs, could prove decisive this time.
Redknapp will look to shore up a defence that has been vulnerable under Mark Hughes, who was sacked as boss after failing to win a league game this season.
Hughes felt he had a realistic chance of convincing Dawson to sign when the transfer window reopens.

Dawson is spurs for life, and andre is starting to see how good he is. sorry QPR and harry, this boy was born to play for spurs.
