Ipswich v QPR player ratings

Ipswich saw off QPR to seal a return to the Premier League. Here’s how we rated each Rangers player in the 3-0 defeat at Portman Road.

Joe Walsh: 6

Produced a couple of saves.

Amadou Mbengue: 5

Given the runaround by Jaden Philogene, who easily beat him to score the second goal. A moment of ball-watching by Mbengue early in the second half almost led to another goal.

Ronnie Edwards: 5

Poor throughout and then took it upon himself to try a piece of trickery on the ball near the edge of his own box, which led to Ipswich’s third goal.

Jake Clarke-Salter: 5

Gave the ball away in the build-up to the second Ipswich goal and was generally unimpressive before being substituted at half-time.

Rhys Norrington-Davies: 5

Like Mbengue, Norrington-Davies was taken apart on the flank in a very poor display.

Jonathan Varane: 5

Appalling for the first half-hour, as Ipswich’s midfield ran the show with ease. Improved, relatively, after that and had a shot blocked.

Nicolas Madsen: 5

Totally overrun before a first-half spell in which the Dane had a shot saved but also picked up a heavy knock to the ribs, which led to him being taken off at the interval.

Keiran Morgan: 5

Morgan was also swept aside by the energy of Ipswich’s midfield. The youngster looked out of his depth.

Ilias Chair: 5

Unable to make an impact and was substituted just after the hour mark. Fired a free-kick over the bar early in the second half.

Harvey Vale: 5

Anonymous for most of the game. Did pop up in attacking areas but shot well over and also missed a decent chance with a wayward header.

Daniel Bennie: 5

Struggled up front on his own and a misplaced pass to the overlapping Mbengue in the second half summed up a tough day for Bennie, who missed a decent chance when he volleyed over after Paul Smyth’s strike had been saved.

Paul Smyth: 7

Lively after his half-time introduction and was twice denied by keeper Christian Walton, with his first attempt coming after a strong run.

Tylon Smith: 6

Again brought on in tough circumstances for the youngster. All three of his introductions as a substitute have been in unforgiving situations.

Koki Saito: 6

Had a shot blocked after his second-half introduction in place of Chair.
