QPR slump to another home defeat

QPR 1

Norrington-Davies (90′)

Swansea 2

Ronald (2′)
Vipotnik (pen, 80)

QPR produced another poor performance at Loftus Road, slumping to a ninth Championship defeat at home this season.

Ronald scored in the second minute after Steve Cook and Rhys Norrington-Davies had got in each other’s way.

And Zan Vipotnik doubled Swansea’s lead with a late penalty after Eom Ji-Sung had been brought down by young defender Tylon Smith.

Norrington-Davies pulled one back with his first Rangers goal, heading in the loose ball after it had bounced up and hit the bar after keeper Lawrence Vigoroux had saved Paul Smyth’s shot.

Veteran defender Cook was making his 100th and final appearance for Rangers and was given a standing ovation when he was substituted on the hour mark.

For the second game running, head coach Julien Stephan made a quadruple substitution with his side struggling to create clear-cut chances.

Cook, Rayan Kolli, Rumarn Burrell and Isaac Hayden made way for Smith, Richard Kone, Ilias Chair and Nicolas Madsen.

In the first half, the home side were forced into a change when Kwame Poku, recently back after his second lay-off this season with a hamstring injury, limped off again.

Rangers were better in the second half but any hopes of a comeback were wiped out by Swansea’s second.

Smith, who gave away a penalty against Middlesbrough last month shortly after coming on for his league debut, conceded another spot-kick after being introduced for his second appearance, although the foul appeared to have occurred outside the box.

QPR: Walsh; Adamson, Cook (Smith 61), Edwards, Norrington-Davies; Vale, Hayden (Madsen 61), Morgan, Poku (Smyth 29); Kolli (Chair 61), Burrell (Kone 61).
Subs not used: Hamer, Mbengue, Esquerdinha, Varane.
