QPR v Nottingham Forest player ratings
A home defeat was a major disappointment for QPR following three consecutive league wins. Here’s how we rated the Rangers players in their 2-1 loss against Nottingham Forest.
Rob Green: 5
It was a day to forget for the Rangers keeper, who had been having a good game until his horror moment in the second half. It was a poor back-pass, but his dreadful control and hauling down of Chris O’Grady started the away side’s comeback.
James Perch: 6
Booked after 20 minutes for a lunge on Ryan Mendes – on another day, he could have been sent off. Still doesn’t look completely comfortable, but is improving.
Gabriele Angella: 6
Took an arm in the face early on in an accidental collision and was eventually taken off after half an hour with blood still pouring from his wound. Not the debut he would have wanted.
Nedum Onuoha: 7
The Rangers captain was unlucky not to put QPR ahead when he smashed a volley inches wide in the second half. He was also unlucky when his deflection led to Forest’s winner.
Paul Konchesky: 7
A good performance from the left-back, who was rarely troubled defensively.
Daniel Tozser: 7
Looked a little off the pace, but stroked the ball around well and broke up the play in the middle of the park. The debutant was at the heart of Rangers’ best spell early in the second half.
Karl Henry: 6
Could have been booked for at least one of two poor first-half tackles and found the going tough against a lively Forest midfield.
Matt Phillips: 6
Was kept in check by Forest and his usual pinpoint crossing was surprisingly off target. An off day, which says as much about Forest’s excellent defending as his own display.
Massimo Luongo: 7
Has an excellent work ethic and played the ball around well. It was a shame for Rangers the Australian had to be sacrificed when Green was sent off.
Tjaronn Chery: 6
The Dutchman put in a good shift and showed some excellent footwork and link-up play, but he was given no space to really have an impact.
Charlie Austin: 7
Struggled at times and was well marshalled by the Forest backline. But when he found space, he found the net – his fifth goal of the season.
Grant Hall: 7
Perhaps harshly dropped, but the centre-half came on early to replace Angella and resurrected his good partnership with Onuoha. He looked solid again.
Alex Smithies: 6
Could do nothing about Henri Lansbury’s penalty and a deflected winner. Survived his own horror moment with 10 minutes to go when he tried to punch away a long ball forward. Smithies now has the chance to make the position his own while Green is suspended.
