QPR striker sidelined by cruciate injury

Andrew Johnson will miss most of the season with a knee injury after a scan revealed he suffered cruciate ligament damage during the west London derby against Chelsea.

The QPR striker, who moved to Loftus Road on a Bosman free transfer from Fulham during the summer, was helped off in the first half of Saturday’s game.

Johnson, 31, had been in good form, having played well at Manchester City prior to the international break and caused Chelsea problems before being hurt.

Meanwhile, Rangers are assessing the condition of on-loan defender Fabio, who picked up a hamstring injury at the weekend and is expected to be out for at least a fortnight.
