Sylla could move to France after Turkish interest comes to nothing

A number of French clubs are considering a pre-deadline deal to sign Idrissa Sylla from QPR.

Earlier on Friday, Turkish clubs indicated they might be interested in signing the striker.

However, with a move looking increasingly unlikely, by late afternoon Rangers were pursuing the possibility of a deal in the final hours of the French transfer window.

Although somewhat reluctant to move to Turkey, Sylla, who previously played for Le Mans and SC Bastia, indicated as the deadline approached that he could be open to a return to France.

Rangers, desperate to offload him and reduce their wage bill, are therefore trying to arrange a late move across the Channel for Sylla, who was signed from Belgian club Anderlecht in 2016.

QPR tried in vain to offload him during previous transfer windows and he has slipped further down the pecking order of strikers at Loftus Road following the recent loan signings of Tomer Hemed and Nahki Wells.

A recent enquiry from Blackburn came to nothing, leading Rangers to give up hope of another English club coming in for the Guinea international.

Conor Washington, who was also surplus to requirements, has joined Sheffield United on one-year deal.

  • If D F thinks Smith is slow and immobile he's clearly never seen sylla on the pitch, bloke is a lazy waste of a squad number utter rubbish

  • Such as shame, never given a chance at QPR, but good luck to him
Hopefully they can get rid of Smith next as he does not help the team as the minute he comes on the pitch, midfield stops playing football and goes long ball. Also Smith has to be the slowest most immobile striker the championship has ever seen
