QPR sign Kemper ahead of expected move for Esquerdinha

QPR have completed the signing of Dutch left-back Boy Kemper as they prepare for the expected exit of Esquerdinha.

Kemper, who turns 27 on Sunday, has been brought in on a free transfer after leaving NAC Breda at the end of his contract.

Kemper has been keen to move to England and is among several left-backs who have been on Rangers’ radar.

A signing in that position is a priority following the end of Rhys Norrington-Davies’ season on loan from Sheffield United.

And with a number of clubs in Europe showing a firm interest in Brazilian youngster Esquerdinha, Rangers have opted to snap up Kemper and are exploring the possibility of signing another left-back later in the summer.

Esquerdinha, 20, was signed last summer and has since made 16 Championship appearances.

Kemper has played for the Netherlands at Under-18 and Under-19 levels and was on Ajax’s books as a youngster.

He had a three-year spell at Den Haag and in 2023 he joined Breda, who were relegated from the Dutch top flight last season.

That hope will be short lived Paul.
He’s a free transfer that no one challenged us for, which tells me he isn’t that great because if he was, others would have come in for him long before us.
He may be free, but his wages will still be high, but what will be the telling factor for me, is whether he plays a lot or is injury prone like other players they’ve brought in.

Hopefully a decent addition to the squad.
Esquardinho struggled in the Championship & looked totally out of his depth at LB though only 20 & needs playing time on loan in the 3rd tier
