QPR sign Kemper ahead of expected move for Esquerdinha

QPR have completed the signing of Dutch left-back Boy Kemper as they prepare for the expected exit of Esquerdinha.

Kemper, who turns 27 on Sunday, has been brought in on a free transfer after leaving NAC Breda at the end of his contract.

Kemper has been keen to move to England and is among several left-backs who have been on Rangers’ radar.

A signing in that position is a priority following the end of Rhys Norrington-Davies’ season on loan from Sheffield United.

And with a number of clubs in Europe showing a firm interest in Brazilian youngster Esquerdinha, Rangers have opted to snap up Kemper and are exploring the possibility of signing another left-back later in the summer.

Esquerdinha, 20, was signed last summer and has since made 16 Championship appearances.

Kemper has played for the Netherlands at Under-18 and Under-19 levels and was on Ajax’s books as a youngster.

He had a three-year spell at Den Haag and in 2023 he joined Breda, who were relegated from the Dutch top flight last season.
