QPR sign Assou-Ekotto and Carroll on loan

QPR have completed the signings of Benoit Assou-Ekotto and youngster Tom Carroll from Tottenham on season-long loans.

Left-back Assou-Ekotto, 29, has made more than 200 appearances for Spurs and was a regular under Harry Redknapp when the Rangers manager was in charge at the north London club.

The Cameroon international struggled with injury last season, however, and has fallen out of favour with current Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas.

He is yet to make an appearance this season because of an abdominal strain.

Redknapp has been keen to bring in a left-back all summer and was frustrated when the QPR board were reluctant to sanction the signing of former England defender Wayne Bridge.

England Under-21 international Carroll is a product of Tottenham’s youth system and follows in the footsteps of Andros Townsend, who enjoyed a successful loan spell at Loftus Road last season.

The midfielder, 21, has made 23 appearances for Spurs, mostly from the bench, but impressed in their recent Europa League win over Dinamo Tbilisi.
