QPR v Birmingham player ratings

Kieran Morgan’s last-gasp goal helped QPR beat Birmingham City and move into the play-off places. Here’s how we rated the Rangers’ players on a dramatic night at Loftus Road.
Paul Nardi: 6
Managed to look nervous despite having little to do. Deserves credit for keeping the ball out when Tommy Doyle tried to score directly from a corner in the closing stages.
Amadou Mbengue: 8
Did a good defensive job on the dangerous Demarai Gray and was typically adventurous when given the opportunity to join the attack.
Jimmy Dunne: 8

Was totally dominant in both boxes, winning header after header. Showed great strength and determination in scoring the game’s first goal.
Steve Cook: 7
Was a steady presence alongside Dunne. Made a great clearance inside his own six-yard box late on.
Rhys Norrington-Davies: 7
Looks at home charging up and down the left. Steady defensively whilst also constantly providing an overlapping option when attacking.
Nicolas Madsen: 7
Tidy in possession and also made a couple of important defensive contributions late on.
Jonathan Varane: 6
Started quite slowly but improved massively as the game progressed.
Paul Smyth: 6

Caused Jack Robinson plenty of problems down the right flank but couldn’t find the final ball. Missed a decent chance to open the scoring with a close-range header.
Richard Kone: 6
Worked hard up front but passed up a glorious chance to double the lead in the second half and avoid the need for a dramatic finish.
Koki Saito: 7
Produced a brilliant cross for Dunne to head home the opener.
Rumarn Burrell: 6
Worked hard but never had much of an opportunity to continue his good recent goalscoring form.
Kader Dembele: 6
Had no great impact after taking Smyth’s place on the right, a few neat touches aside.
Kwame Poku: 6
A couple of bright moments but didn’t make the most of a couple of good opportunities to cross.
Kieran Morgan: 7
Was caught out of position as Birmingham equalised but his last-gasp screamer more than made up for it.
