QPR are likely to listen to any offers for Michael Doughty and Jay Emmanuel-Thomas when the transfer window reopens in January.

Doughty, 23, and Emmanuel-Thomas, 25, have impressed since making season-long loan moves to League One sides Swindon and Gillingham respectively.

Youth product Doughty is a long way down the pecking order of midfielders at Loftus Road and Rangers director of football Les Ferdinand says the club might let him move on.

Ferdinand said “The most important thing is to try to have players come through into your first team.

“If they can’t play in your first team, you have a duty to that player to still turn him into a professional footballer.

Ferdinand says Doughty and Emmanuel-Thomas could move on

“He (players in general) may not be able to play in the Championship, but can he play in League One or League Two? Can he have a career? That’s the question you’re asking.

“Michael’s gone away and he’s done well in League One. Can he progress and can the manager see enough in him to think he can come back and be better than what we’ve got? If not, sometimes you’ve got let them go and have a career.

“That’s the situation with Michael, who is doing well. It’s the same with Jay Emmanuel Thomas, who has scored five goals already but, with all due respect, we knew he was capable of doing that in League One.”

‘Might look at it’

Forward Emmanuel-Thomas is not in Rangers manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s plans.

The former Arsenal trainee has, however, been in excellent form for Gillingham

“Can he transfer that into the Championship? He hasn’t been able to do that so far,” Ferdinand said.

“In January someone might come in and offer some money so we might look at it.”
