QPR striker Polter a doubt for Newcastle game

QPR: Sebastian Polter

Sebastian Polter did not train with the rest of the QPR squad on Monday and looks a doubt for the game against Newcastle.

Manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink said Polter was substituted at half-time against Blackburn on Saturday because of a minor injury.

Striker Polter did not appear for the second half of the game at Loftus Road, where Rangers drew 1-1.

Hasselbaink said Polter, who was replaced by Conor Washington, was withdrawn because of a problem with a gluteal muscle.

“He didn’t want to come off, but I had to do it as a precaution,” said Hasselbaink.

“He has had a tight glute and I made the decision to not risk him and to trust the other lads.”

Recent signing Idrissa Sylla also came on as a substitute against Blackburn and is in contention to start Tuesday’s match against Newcastle.

Loan signing Paweł Wszołek is expected to be in the squad as well after missing the Blackburn game because of a suspension carried over from his parent club Hellas Verona.
