QPR keeper Barnes could join Doncaster on loan

Goalkeeper Dillon Barnes could join Doncaster Rovers on loan.

The 25-year-old has been recommended to Doncaster coach Paul Gerrard by QPR goalkeeping coach Gavin Ward, who was behind Barnes’ surprise move to west London in 2019.

He has not made a first-team appearance for Rangers but was given a new one-year contract during the summer.

Barnes had spells on loan at Hibernian and Burton last season – starting a total of four league matches – and is available for another loan move.

Rovers boss Richie Wellens told the Doncaster Free Press: “Paul Gerrard has a good relationship with Gavin Ward at QPR and that’s the thinking behind that.

“We’re hoping to have a keeper in in the next 48 hours. It could be Dillon Barnes but we also have two other irons in the fire.”

Doncaster have previously signed keepers Seny Dieng and Joe Lumley on loan from QPR.
