QPR looking to complete deal to sign Sainsbury

QPR: Loftus Road

QPR are looking to tie up a deal to bring in Australia centre-back Trent Sainsbury.

The R’s are hoping to sign Sainsbury, 26, from Chinese club Jiangsu Suning, possibly on an initial loan deal.

Sainsbury, whose contract expires in January, is keen to stay in Europe, having ended last season on loan at Swiss club Grasshoppers. He was previously on loan at Inter Milan.

A friend and international team-mate of QPR midfielder Massimo Luongo, Sainsbury featured in the recent World Cup.

Rangers boss Steve McClaren has been keen to bring in two central defenders this summer in light of the departures of out-of-contract duo Nedum Onuoha and Jack Robinson.

The club have already signed German defender Toni Leistner and are now hoping to agree a deal for Sainsbury to join him at Loftus Road.
