QPR boss wants new signings

QPR manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink is hopeful the club will make further signings before the transfer window closes.

Rangers are looking to add a striker and at least one winger to their squad following the summer departures of Matt Phillips and Junior Hoilett.

Hasselbaink said: “We would hope there will be a few more in. We are looking and are trying very hard.

“We need a little bit more help. We want to make that squad a little bit stronger so we can be more competitive.”

Rangers begin their Championship season with a home match against Hasselbaink’s former club Leeds United on Sunday.

The Dutchman is keen to play down his team’s promotion chances ahead of the campaign.

“It’s very easy to say we want top six or to get promotion. We are concentrating more on doing it,” he said.

“The objective is to be competitive in every game and to get stronger during the season.”
