QPR v Preston player ratings
Paul Smyth scored a 90th-minute equaliser for 10-man QPR, who came back from two down to rescue a point against Preston. Here’s how we rated each Rangers player in the 2-2 draw.
Pierce Charles: 6
Was left badly exposed for both Preston goals. Solid enough throughout.
Amadou Mbengue: 6
Worked hard on the right and showed great persistence to get a first-half cross in, but at other times he lacked quality.
Jimmy Dunne: 5
An off-day for the captain, whose early mistake led to the opening goal. He hesitated, failing to deal with a routine long ball, and was punished. And in general he was out of sorts in the first half.
Ronnie Edwards: 6
Not at his best either, but avoided errors, and had an effort on goal as Rangers surged forward in the second half.
Dennis Cirkin: 5
Involved in the early action, seeing his shot deflected wide, before Rangers were left up against it when he was sent off for a risky challenge on Leo Leroy.
Glen Kamara: 5
After some excellent performances as a substitute, this was an unexpectedly poor display by Kamara after being given a starting place – one devoid of the kind of composure on the ball he had previously shown.
Nicolas Madsen: 6
Well below par in the first half but much better in the second and played a key role in 10-man Rangers’ domination. Almost won it in the final seconds with a strike that was well saved by keeper Daniel Iversen.
Jonathan Varane: 6
A late inclusion in place of Harvey Vale after the initial line-up had been named – and was then taken off after 19 minutes after Cirkin had been dismissed.
Kwame Poku: 8
Scored with a fine goal, cleverly making space for himself near the edge of the box and thumping home. That was a reward for an excellent showing as he had been Rangers’ best player up to then.
Leon Scarlett: 7
Making his first start, the teenager was lively in the first half and terribly unfortunate to be substituted at the interval.
Rumarn Burrell: 6
Worked hard to occupy defenders but struggled to make an impact, even when Rangers were on top in the second half.
Kealey Adamson: 7
Came on for Varane to replace Cirkin and again did well. Set up a chance for Poku with a cross and defended with great aggression.
Koki Saito: 7
Lively after his introduction for the second half. Went close with a strike just wide of the target and played his part in the comeback.
Paul Smyth: 8
Sent on midway through the second half, with Rangers two down, and delivered for them in a big way, thumping in a cracking equaliser, with his long throw having led to Poku pulling a goal back. Alfie Lloyd, who came on late in the game, also made an impact, hitting the bar and bringing a fine save from Iversen.
