QPR boss Warburton doubts there will be transfer window
Mark Warburton has suggested that QPR will end up keeping their star players this summer because there might not be a transfer window.
Football matches have been suspended because of the coronavirus crisis and there are questions over how – or whether – the season will be completed.
Warburton fully expected there to be interest in the likes of Ebere Eze, Bright Osayi-Samuel and Ilias Chair.
However, speaking to Sky Sports News, the Rangers manager expressed doubt that clubs will trade this summer.
“I don’t see how you could have a transfer window,” he said.
“How can you have a transfer window when people are being laid off and not paid?
“The whole game has got to accept that this is an unprecedented situation. How do we respond to it?
“The game can’t expect to carry on as per normal.
“There’s no doubt we’ve got two or three very talented young players who will attract interest.
“Their situation will be key for us.”
QPR star is ‘top-six Premier League player’
Eze has been outstanding this season and there has been much speculation about his future.
West London Sport revealed in January that an approach for Eze from Crystal Palace had been rejected, having revealed in April 2018 that the south London club were monitoring him.
Tottenham have been linked with Eze, as have Chelsea.
And Warburton believes the forward is capable of playing for a top Premier League club.
“He’s maintained a great level of consistency, home and away,” Warburton said.
“I honestly believe he is a top-six Premier League player all day long.”
