QPR ready to loan out defender Masterson

QPR defender Conor Masterson is set for a loan move.

Rangers are keen for the Irishman to get regular game time during the second half of the season and a number of lower-division clubs are interested.

QPR wanted to bring in another centre-back and loan out Masterson, 22, during the summer transfer window.

There was plenty of interest in him then, but Rangers were unable to complete the signing they wanted and he therefore ended up staying.

But the arrival of Jordy de Wijs would pave the way for Masterson to go.

Dutchman De Wijs is on the verge of signing from Hull City on loan with a view to a permanent move.

QPR are also hoping to send midfielder Faysal Bettache out on loan.

“Development is so important,” Rangers manager Mark Warburton said.

“It’s OK sitting on the bench but they need to go out and play matches for three points. Conor, Faysal, they need men’s football.

“In League One or League Two you are playing for three points and players are paying their mortgage.

“It’s invaluable for a young player’s development.”
