QPR’s Rangel offered potential MLS move

DC United are interested in signing Angel Rangel.

QPR plan to offer Rangel an extension to his contract after he impressed since being signed on a five-month deal in August as cover while Darnell Furlong was sidelined.

He has also been offered a potential move to the United States, while his representatives are suggesting there is also interest from other Championship clubs.

Furlong is available again after the knee injury he suffered during pre-season, but Rangel has performed well in his absence and Rangers want to keep the Spaniard until at least the end of the season.

Rangel, who turns 36 later this month, moved to Loftus Road having been released by Swansea City, where he spent 11 years.

He has made 13 appearances since his arrival in west London and was recently described as “the signing of the season” by QPR manager Steve McClaren because of the impact he has made.

McClaren said: “Angel Rangel must be so far the signing of the season. He’s 35 years old, came on trial and we signed him and he’s performed so well.”
