QPR to consider loan move for youngster Walsh

QPR will consider sending goalkeeper Joe Walsh out on loan after sealing the signing of Asmir Begovic.

A deal has been agreed with the vastly experienced Begovic, 36, whose move to Loftus Road is expected to be confirmed soon.

The Bosnian is a free agent after recently leaving Everton, where his contract expired this summer. He rejected their offer of a new deal.

Begovic acted as back-up keeper at Everton, having done the same during a two-year spell at Chelsea, and is keen to return to west London for personal reasons.

He left Chelsea in the summer of 2017 to join Bournemouth, where he spent four years before moving to Everton.

Begovic has also played for Portsmouth and Stoke, and in 2020 he had a spell on loan at AC Milan.

He is being signed by QPR as a replacement for Seny Dieng, who was recently sold to Middlesbrough.

And his arrival might well pave the way for Walsh, 21, to move elsewhere in order to play first-team football.

A number of clubs are interested in the youngster, who was signed from Gillingham in January 2021 and is yet to make a senior appearance for the R’s.
