Warburton keen for Masterton to pick up experience on loan

Mark Warburton says it is vital QPR pick the right loan move for Conor Masterton.

The Irish defender, who was signed in the summer after being released by Liverpool, is yet to make his senior debut.

Rangers are planning to send him out on loan for the second half of the season in order for him to pick up first-team experience.

Confirming a loan move for Masterton is in the pipeline, boss Warburton said: “You have to manage young players the right way and nurture them properly.

“You want them to go out on loan, get good experience and come back a better player.

“So it’s important we pick the right move for Conor. I’m sure there will be discussions over the coming weeks.

“You saw with Ilias Chair, who went on loan on loan to Stevenage and tore it up and came back a better player. Ebere Eze as well when he was on loan at Wycombe.

“That’s what you want – young players to get some first-team football and become better players for the experience.”

Other QPR youngsters will be sent out on loan when the transfer window reopens next month.

They could include winger Olamide Shodipo, who is looking to re-establish himself after a series of injury problems.
