Holloway keen to sign an experienced striker

QPR: Ian Holloway

QPR boss Ian Holloway confirmed he will make signing an experienced striker a priority in January after seeing his side suffer their sixth consecutive defeat and go four games without scoring.

Rangers missed several chances during the 3-0 defeat at Brighton on Tuesday, extending their goalless streak to 360 minutes.

Having seen recent matches decided by the likes of Derby’s Tom Ince, Aston Villa’s Jonathan Kodjia and Brighton’s Glenn Murray, Holloway feels his team have missed a proven Championship marksman since the departure of Charlie Austin.

West London Sport recently revealed that Rangers had decided to alter their transfer policy in order sign an experienced forward.

And Holloway said: “At the minute we’re not cutting it at this level, so we’ve got to try and sort that out in January, because we need some goals.

“You need to believe you’re going to score and I’m not so sure my whole team do. So I might have to help their belief by bringing some others in if I can.

“To replace Charlie Austin, I would have to do it with someone who I know can already do it, to help the younger ones and make them believe.

“I’ve got to be clever and resourceful. It might be about who I have to move out so I can get in, and I’m trying to do that as well.”
