QPR manager Mark Hughes promised an immediate improvement from his side after they were sent crashing to a 5-0 opening-day defeat at home to Swansea.
Rob Green’s early mistake gifted the lead to City, who helped themselves to four more goals as Rangers went to pieces in the second half.
Hughes made no excuses for their display and insisted there would be no repeat against Norwich next weekend.
“What happened? Well, after we conceded the first goal we basically played into Swansea’s hands,” said Hughes, who left Bobby Zamora on the bench because the striker has a knee problem.
“We’re disappointed with the first goal and from that point we were trying to chase the game – certainly in the latter stages when we went a bit gung-ho.
“I thought we started brightly and the [first] goal came against the run of play. But after that, in terms of the level needed in the Premier League, it wasn’t good enough.
“We have talent in the group. It’s about doing the right things and unfortunately today our decision-making was poor and the longer it went on the worst we got.
“I expected a much more accomplished performance than was delivered and next week will be fundamentally better.
“It’s one game. We have 37 other opportunities to make sure it doesn’t happen again. The whole group will be better next week.”

what went wrong, free out of contract has beens anybody that not going to cost anything and not buying a centre half simples.
Poor preparation with an unorganised defense, unacceptable at this level and deserved to be punished. Hughes should be ashamed of himself that we were ill-prepared, is he really the right manager for us?
what went wrong? - pre-season went well, signed some decent players, and then get battered. I'm not one for put driving the nail in but green was making clangers in the pre-season friendlies. maybe championship is his level. you cant make mistakes every game. Everyone is forgiving of one or two a season, but not week in week out. maybe we need to stop paying minimal transfer fees and start paying some decent money (wages aside)
